Welcome to Moat Hall Early Years Unit for 2-4 year olds.
There are four areas to our unit:
- Moat Hall Minis : children aged 2-3 years have their own room and outdoor space.
- Pre-School: when children are 3 they transition into this room where they share the provision with Nursery
- Nursery (Caterpillars): children learn all the skills required to prepare them for Reception.
- Reception (Butterflies): children have their own indoor provision.
Children can join our setting at any point during the academic year (subject to availability). We recommend that you visit us to take a look around our provision and complete a booking form with your requirements.
We offer 15 and 30 hour funded places, Think 2 funded places and fee paying places. We also accept all childcare vouchers. Currently we have 16 places in our 2 year old room and 52 places for our 3-4 year olds.
Children may stay for full day sessions and have lunch at school in our indoor garden room. They can either bring a packed lunch or have a school dinner, freshly prepared for us by our 5* rated kitchen..

Settling In
When your child starts, we will work with you to ensure that your child feels settled and comfortable. We offer 2 transition sessions for children to visit, meet the staff and spend time in their new environment. We will discuss with you all the important things that make your child happy and content. This enables us to give your child the best possible start as you will have provided valuable information about them as an individual.
Communication
We understand that communication between parents and school is paramount and so we will do this in a number of ways:
-
Staff available every day on drop off and pick up to relay messages to.
- There is parents’ evening held each term.
- Use of the class DOJO app so you can message us easily, see what your child is doing and get updates from us that you can access on your phone
- Text and email messages for whole school events
- Regular letters and fortnightly newsletters
